Condemned? You Decide
March 2015: My family and friends condemn neighbors’ homes and run a 300-foot faux pipeline across our yards. The block-long installation decries the fracked-gas-for-export pipeline and terminal a foreign company is trying to ram through S. Oregon using eminent domain. Passersby draw and send postcards or use “Selfie stations” to tweet Governor Kate Brown, the only one who can stop this disaster.
The opening reception of our block-long art installation features a press conference with speeches by landowners threatened with eminent domain as well as teen hip-hip artist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez speaking about his family’s fight against fracking in his Colorado home. Our pipeline is featured on OPB radio, Eugene TV stations, and the Register Guard’s front page.
